OpenAI just released their Agent Builder, and I couldn’t resist experimenting with it.
At Teknuro BV, we’re always exploring tools that push the boundaries of automation. We already use integration platforms like Celigo to connect systems and streamline workflows. But integrations alone aren’t enough anymore—businesses increasingly need agents: intelligent systems that can understand, reason, and act.
OpenAI’s Agent Builder makes this possible in a way that’s both powerful and accessible. It allows anyone to design AI-driven agents that combine natural language processing with structured workflows—no heavy coding required.
Why Agent Builder Matters
The Agent Builder enables you to create custom AI agents that can:
- Accept inputs like text, files, or even screenshots.
- Analyze and interpret unstructured data.
- Route decisions through flexible workflows.
This shifts the conversation from simple data automation to decision-making automation. Instead of just connecting APIs, you can now build workflows that think.
My First Experiment
To see what’s possible, I built a simple prototype agent. Its purpose was straightforward:
- Accept a screenshot of a LinkedIn post.
- Extract details about the content, author, and company.
- Analyze whether that company might be a fit for Teknuro.
The outcome: I could go from raw screenshot → actionable business insight in seconds, without manual research.
As a test case, I used a recent post from Jan Baan of Omoda. The agent quickly extracted key details, contextualized the company, and flagged whether there was business potential worth exploring.
Inside the Flow
Here’s a simplified view of the workflow I set up:
- Start → Prompt the user to upload a LinkedIn screenshot.
- Check Upload → Confirm the file is valid.
- Evaluate Company Fit → The agent interprets the post and analyzes business alignment.
- Review & Decide → Human validation: accept or reject the recommendation.
- Outcome → Continue down an Approved Path (follow-up actions) or Rejected Path.
This shows how Agent Builder supports not just AI analysis, but also structured decision-making processes.
Why This Is a Big Deal
Until now, most automation has been about moving data—integrating CRMs, ERPs, and marketing platforms. Agent Builder shifts this into something more intelligent:
- Sales can receive AI-qualified leads.
- Support can get AI-prioritized tickets.
- Finance can detect anomalies automatically.
In short, it’s about workflows that don’t just react—they reason.
Looking Ahead
This experiment is only a glimpse of what’s possible. The Agent Builder by OpenAI makes it clear that we’re entering an era where:
- Building agents will be as common as building workflows.
- AI will sit directly inside business processes.
- Organizations will rely on automation that doesn’t just execute, but actively supports better decisions.
We’re just scratching the surface, but one thing is clear: the combination of AI agents + automation is where the next wave of business efficiency will come from.
